Orlando’s school-zone camera warning period began October 5, with fines scheduled to start November 30, according to the city’s program page. The initiative covers 20 schools across the city.
The cameras use a threshold of more than 10 mph above the applicable speed limit in an active school zone. The city says the normal posted limit applies during the school session, while reduced school-zone limits apply during arrival and dismissal.
Once enforcement begins, registered vehicle owners can receive a $100 civil penalty by mail, without points added to their Florida driver’s license. The city’s program page lists the affected schools and explains the warning and enforcement phases.
